Onvest has sold the Mittalinja property

The family-owned company Onvest has sold the property in Vantaa, at the address Mittalinja 1, to Verne at the end of December 2024. Verne currently operates data center on the property and plans to expand the data center campus.

The eight-hectare plot of land located in Mittalinja was acquired for the company in the early 1980s, when the Onninen headquarters and indoor and outdoor warehouse were also built on it. The head office, which later also served as Onvest’s head office, was demolished in 2020. The outdoor storage area is currently empty. Therefore, there are a lot of unused and developable building rights on the plot.

In the early 2010s, the warehouse building was converted into a data centre, nowadays operated by Verne. With the support of its owner, the French private equity firm Ardian, Verne aims to develop and expand the entire plot for data centre operations. With very good telecommunications connections and access to electricity, the site is therefore ideal for data centre operations.

“We considered various development options for Mittalinja and finally ended up selling the property to Verne. Verne has a clear path for the overall development of the property and a strong focus on minimising the environmental impacts of its operations.  The decision to sell the property was not easy considering the property’s significant history to Onvest, but we believe that this was the best option for the development of the property. At the same time, the transaction frees up funds for the development and growth of our real estate business,” says Onvest’s board chairman Maria Toivanen.
